The A1696PUCATN-RNBPMGC is a Hall effect sensor IC that integrates EMC protection elements specifically designed for crankshaft applications.

The sensor provides true zero-speed digital crankshaft detection, with speed and direction information transmitted by a variable pulse width output protocol. The open-drain output provides a voltage such that the time between the electrical falling edge (period) corresponds to the speed, and the time between the falling edge and the corresponding rising edge (pulse width) indicates the direction.
