ON Semiconductor has announced a long-term supply agreement (LTSA) with BMW for the application of ON Semiconductors Elite SiC technology in the German premium automakers 400 V DC bus electric driveline.

March 8 - ON Semiconductor has announced a long-term supply agreement (LTSA) with BMW for the application of ON Semiconductor's Elite SiC technology in the German premium automaker's 400 V DC bus electric drivetrain. ON Semiconductor's latest Elite SiC 750 V M3 chip is used to deliver full-bridge power modules with hundreds of kilowatts of power.


The strategic collaboration between the two companies in the development and integration of electric drive systems enables ON Semiconductor to offer differentiated and application-specific die solutions, including optimized size and layout as well as high performance and reliability. Enhanced electrical and mechanical characteristics enable high efficiency and lower overall losses, while providing the highest system-level performance.


With decades of expertise in manufacturing power components for automotive applications, ON Semiconductor has developed differentiated and intelligent power technologies to deliver industry-leading electric drivetrain solutions. This includes superior packaging technology and an evolutionary path from planar to trench cell architectures, providing the highest levels of reliability required for automotive electric vehicle applications at all voltages.
