According to the report, DRAM global revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022 was US$12.28 billion, down 32.5% YoY, surpassing the 28.9% decline in the third quarter and approaching the 36% drop in a single quarter during the financial tsunami at the end of 2008, mainly due to the decline in the average price of DRAM products (ASP).

Analysts pointed out that customers began to pull less goods in Q3 last year, DRAM manufacturers' inventories piled up quickly, so in order to seize the fourth quarter of shipments accounted for the only way to fight to reduce prices, among them to server DRAM fell the most, the fourth quarter of 2022 DDR4 prices fell 23 ~ 28%; DDR5 prices fell to 30 ~ 35%.

In terms of capacity planning, Samsung Line15 has seen a slight decline in film production due to the optimisation of its old process lines, with capacity expansion focused on the newly completed P3L, which started small trial production in the first quarter of this year and is the main force behind the expansion of total film production this year. The M16 production line in Korea is an advanced process, so the original plan to increase production slightly is being maintained. The new 1β process is already in mass production at Micron's Japan plant, while the Taiwan plant will start production in the middle of this year and mass production in the second half of the year.
