Samsung Networks announced that it has delivered the first 24,000 Open RAN (this is an Open Radio Access Network) compliant 5G radios to DISH Networks for the launch of a nationwide 5G network in the United States.

February 24 - Samsung Networks announced that it has delivered the first 24,000 Open RAN (this is an Open Radio Access Network) compliant 5G radios to DISH Networks for the launch of a nationwide 5G network in the United States. Samsung is also providing 5G vRAN software solutions for DISH's 5G network in the country.


The two companies announced a multi-year agreement in May 2022 and since then, Samsung Networks has been providing DISH with 5GO-RAN radios to expand its network infrastructure. The two companies have been working together for almost a year on infrastructure installation, testing and site go-live. Samsung has provided vDU (Virtualised Distributed Unit), vCU (Virtualised Central Unit) and OpenRAN compatible 5G radios. Samsung has also tailored DISH's requirements for dual and tri-band OpenRAN-compatible 5G radios.


DISH 5G is gradually reaching 70% of the U.S. population, and DISH Wireless and Samsung Networks will soon continue to work together to roll out the 5G network in the U.S. The 5G network will provide fast and reliable Internet access to millions of U.S. consumers.
