JVC Kenwood announces 30% price hike for in-car navigation due to power chip prices
Multiple reports have emerged that JVC Kenwood Japan has announced a price increase of up to 30% for car recorders and car navigation systems from 1 April.
On 24 February, it was reported by various sources that JVC Kenwood in Japan has announced that it will increase the prices of car recorders and car navigation systems by up to 30% from 1 April.
Prices will rise by 3-15% for automotive devices, 5-20% for consumer devices such as headphones and 10-30% for commercial devices such as wireless systems, due to increases in the price of raw materials such as chips.
In April last year, JVC Kenwood similarly announced a price increase of around 3% to 25% for car radios, consumer and commercial radio equipment. This year's price increase is even greater.
For its part, JVC Kenwood said that with soaring crude oil prices, continued increases in raw material prices, and continued increases in distribution costs, it is difficult to maintain regular product prices on its own. Price increases in power supply DC/DC chips have also affected the price of low-power transceivers and other digital devices.
In the automotive sector, JVC Kenwood is as important as Marvell, Infineon, NXP, Renesas, etc. JVC was once a subsidiary of the Panasonic Group, which was involved in the development and manufacture of a wide range of professional and residential electrical products with its proprietary technologies for the capture, storage, processing and transmission of sound and images, leaving behind many epoch-making technologies for the history of the electrical industry. The company was sold by Panasonic to the Kenwood Group.
