According to rquandt, Qualcomm has been using a 10-inch screen device internally to test the Snapdragon 8cx Gen4, which could mean Qualcomm will use the Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 to build a batch of products like the Surface Neo.

Qualcomm has reportedly been testing the Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 with a 10-inch screen development device since November 2022, and the media says that typically the display form factor used by Qualcomm during development roughly corresponds to the form factor of the future finished product. This could mean that Qualcomm intends to use the Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 processor in a small-screen laptop or 2-in-1 device, such as the Surface Neo pictured above.


According to the leak, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 will feature a 12-core form factor, with 8 performance cores + 4 energy cores. The performance cores will be around 3.4GHz and the performance cores will be around 2.5GHz.


Other than that, the chip supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5x memory and the integrated GPU is the Adreno 740, the same GPU as in Snapdragon 8 Gen2, offering DirectX 12, Vulkan 1.3, OpenCL and DirectML support. The processor connects to the discrete GPU via eight PCIe 4.0 lanes and also supports PCIe 4.0 SSDs and UFS 4.0 flash memory. In terms of IO, the chip supports two USB 3.1 10Gbps ports and three USB 4 (Thunderbolt 4) ports with DisplayPort 1.4a support. In addition, the chip's display output has been greatly enhanced, with the chip capable of outputting resolutions of up to 5K+4K+4K simultaneously.
