At CES 2023, Howell Group unveiled its new 1.3 megapixel OX01E20 system-on-chip (SoC) for automotive 360-degree surround view systems (SVS) and rear view cameras (RVC).

January 6 - Howell Group unveiled its new 1.3 megapixel OX01E20 system-on-chip (SoC) for automotive 360-degree surround view systems (SVS) and rear view cameras (RVC) at CES 2023 on January 4, local time.

The OX01E20 brings high performance LED flicker suppression (LFM) and 140db high dynamic range (HDR) capability, says Howell Group. In addition, the OX01E20 is pin-to-pin compatible with the previous generation 1.3 megapixel automotive SoC, allowing for quick upgrades to higher performance.


In a single 1/4-inch optical format package, the OX01E20 is said to feature a 3-micron image sensor, an advanced image signal processor (ISP) and full-featured distortion correction / perspective correction (DC / PC) and on-screen display (OSD), enabling designers to achieve small size, low-light performance, low power consumption and low cost simultaneously, while the OX01E20 can use only a single The OX01E20 can be used with a single PCB board, contributing to the reliability of the camera module.


Howell says the OX01E20 is ASIL-B safety compliant and is sampling now for mass production in June 2023 with the following key features.

140dB HDR and LFM simultaneously.

Good HDR and LFM performance over the full temperature range of the vehicle.

Advanced ISP, including DC/PC and OSD.

a-CSP technology to enable small form factor solutions.

Low power consumption.

Based on Howell Group's PureCel Plus architecture, which offers good low light sensitivity and provides a high signal-to-noise ratio.
