Qualcomm's dependence on Apple and Samsung Electronics is back in the spotlight, according to a report released today by research firm Strategy Analytics on December 27. Qualcomm will benefit from this duopoly as it will own 100 percent of the Galaxy S and iPhone market share by 2023.

According to Strategy Analytics, Qualcomm generates more than 40 percent of its revenue from Apple and Samsung. In fiscal 2021, Qualcomm's revenue from Apple will be $7.7 billion (approximately RMB 55.132 billion), while in fiscal 2022, this figure reaches $9.2 billion (approximately RMB 65.872 billion).


In November, Qualcomm commented in its earnings release that the company had planned to supply only about 20 percent of the 5G baseband chips for the new iPhone in 2023, but now expects to maintain its current level of supply. This also means that Apple's 2023 models are not expected to use its own baseband design.


In addition, Qualcomm's chief financial officer confirmed on the earnings call that Qualcomm has moved from a 75% (chipset) share of the Galaxy S22 series to a global share.
