According to foreign media reports, Samsung Electronics researchers recently held in the country's EUV lithography ecosystem conference, said that by 2026, the global 3 nanometer process node foundry market will reach $ 24.2 billion in size, compared to this year's $ 1.2 billion growth will be more than 20 times.
Currently, Samsung Electronics is the only company to announce successful mass production of 3nm chips. As semiconductor majors such as Samsung Electronics, TSMC and Intel begin to introduce EUV equipment and process technology continues to evolve, the 3nm process is expected to become a key competitive node.
Citing data from research firm Gartner, the researcher said that by the end of this year, the largest share of the foundry market was held by 5nm and 7nm processes, with a market size of US$36.9 billion, and its share will be gradually replaced by 3nm in the future. He also said that the 3nm node requires new device structures to improve performance, and Samsung, the first to achieve mass production, uses a ring gate (GAA) transistor structure of MBCFET, which has significantly improved performance and power consumption compared to FinFET.
