Nov. 11, 2012 - Xinhua San today announced the H3C Magic BE18000, the first Wi-Fi 7 router in China, with pricing and launch date to be confirmed.

According to the introduction, H3C Magic BE18000 is equipped with Qualcomm's new generation professional chip, using the latest Wi-Fi 7 wireless protocol technology, with 18000M wireless speed, supporting 2.4GHz / 5.1GHz / 5.8GHz bands (domestic version does not support 6GHz bands), and equipped with three sets of directional antennas and 10G high-speed network port.

The router, which was seen at the Expo just a few days ago, is understood to be equipped with Qualcomm Networking Pro 1220 flagship platform, with two 10 Gigabit (10 GbE) and three Gigabit (1 GbE) network ports, triple directional antennas and a 16-way signal amplifier.

Qualcomm describes Wi-Fi 7 as enabling new experiences and use cases based on a series of signature features that further increase speed and optimise performance in terms of latency and network capacity. Among these, Wi-Fi 7 Multi-Connect technology based on High Frequency Concurrent HBS) extends 4-way dual-band concurrent technology to the high band, delivering aggregated throughput and optimal low-latency performance, while freeing up the lower 2.4GHz band for Bluetooth and IoT applications.

While this product may not support all the features of the official Wi-Fi 7 standard, scheduled for final implementation next year, it does at least feature 320MHz wide channel, 4K-QAM modulation, and multi-link operation.

In terms of specifications, the BE18000 (overseas version) has a 4×4 tri-band Wi-Fi antenna configuration. And thanks to the 320 MHz wide-channel support introduced in Wi-Fi 7, it can achieve amazing speeds on all three frequencies as follows.

● Its maximum PHY rate of 1148 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band.

● 5765 Mbps on the 5 GHz band.

● 11530 Mbps on the 6 GHz channel.

As for 4K-QAM modulation, it allows for less interference from nearby client devices and a 20% speed increase compared to the 1024-QAM solution. Simultaneous Multi-Link Operation allows multiple bands to be utilised simultaneously and the least congested band is selected to reduce latency.
