Maxim has introduced the MAX25240AFFD/VY 2V to 36V, 6A step-up converter, which is suitable for automotive applications.
1. Instructions
The MAX25240AFFD/VY is one of the industry's few 6A automotive step-boost converters with integrated H-bridge switches. The IC supports continuous load currents up to 6A, depending on the input-output voltage ratio and operating frequency. It also supports a wide input voltage range from 2V to 36V.
The MAX25240 offers three switching frequency options: 2.1MHz, 400kHz, and 200kHz. At a high switching frequency of 2.1MHz, the number of external components required is small, the output ripple is low, and no AM band interference is guaranteed, while a 400kHz or 200kHz switching frequency helps to improve efficiency and alleviate power consumption issues. The SYNC input supports three operating modes: Skip mode with low static current, forced fixed-frequency PWM operation, and synchronization with an external clock. The IC also offers spread spectrum modulation capability to minimize EMI interference.
The MAX25240 features a power status (POK) indicator, undervoltage protection, overvoltage protection, cycle term current and thermal shutdown.
