Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, announced the launch of the MLX92235 ultra-low power Hall effect switch chip, which offers a major breakthrough in automotive micropower applications with excellent reliability and highly predictable output update rate tolerances. It can be widely used in a variety of scenarios such as door handles, electronic latches, visor controls, infotainment system buttons and brake light switches.
For modern vehicles, many systems rely on precise switch and latch mechanisms for immediate feedback. Given the number of switches widely distributed inside a car, it becomes critical to ensure that it operates efficiently and minimizes power consumption, and every microwatt saved is significant. Melexis' MLX92235 microwatt switching chip is available in four product model versions to meet these needs. This three-wire single-chip magnetic switch chip delivers industry-leading accuracy, exceptional consistency and reliability to ensure optimal performance throughout the vehicle's life cycle.
To minimize board space footprint, the MLX92235 comes in a standard automotive-grade TSOT23-3L package that does not require any external components. In the face of the harsh requirements of the vehicle environment, the switch chip can maintain stable and reliable performance over a wide operating temperature range of -40 ° C to 105 ° C. In addition, the chip's flexible input voltage, magnetic threshold selection, temperature coefficient, update rate, and output options (push-pull or open-drain mode) make it easy to integrate into a variety of vehicle systems.
The MLX92235 features an advanced power supply design, integrated automatic sleep/wake logic, and a typical sleep current consumption of only 0.65μA at 1.8V. In addition, the product supports optional sleep time Settings from 0.6ms to 800ms.
As a highly sensitive and chopper-stabilized Hall sensor chip, the MLX92235 provides accurate and contactless feedback in a variety of magnetic function applications, including unipolar/all-pole switches or latch configurations. With its versatility, compact size and efficient performance, the MLX92235 will deliver an outstanding design for automotive engineers. Its feedback mechanism can also further promote the development of intelligent vehicle functions, such as automatically triggering the lighting of the interior atmosphere light when the door or visor is opened, enhancing the intelligence and atmosphere of the driving experience.
Minko Daskalov, Melexis product line Manager, said: "Melexis' new MLX92235 demonstrates excellent low-power performance in the field of non-contact Hall effect sensors, while ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the sensors to fully replace traditional mechanical switches in automobiles. This innovation will enable automotive engineers to intelligently upgrade a wide range of automotive switch and latch functions, resulting in a more convenient and efficient driving experience for end users."
