The KSC DCT (Dual Circuit Technology) series is a sealed IP67-rated momentary action tact switch with surface mount technology (SMT) designed to provide the user with a highly adaptable and tactile feel.
Littelfuse announces the launch of the C&K switch KSC DCT Series of touch switches. The KSC DCT (Dual Circuit Technology) series is a hermetically sealed IP67-rated instantaneous action tap switch with surface mount technology (SMT) designed to provide users with a highly adaptable touch.
The KSC DCT is the first light touch switch to offer single pole double throw (SPDT) function and is 6.2×6.2×5.2 mm in size, slim and compact. The switch uses a soft drive, which can withstand 4.75N (+/-1.25N) operating force, and has a service life of 300K times. The KSC DCT series is a logical choice for seamless integration into existing or next-generation designs, providing excellent long-term reliability even in the dirtiest environments.
The KSC DCT touch switch has the following main functions and benefits:
• SPDT function: A single tap switch has one input and two outputs for higher reliability;
• Compact size: suitable for applications with limited space;
• IP67 seal: provides high contact reliability to prevent dust and water from entering;
J-curved SMT package: Standard assembly installation using typical pickup machines (gull wing terminals are also available);
Cost effective: SMT makes it ideal for high volume applications.
The KSC DCT series of touch switches are ideal for the following applications:
• Transportation: car door handles, electric vehicle charging station devices, two - and three-wheelers;
• Consumer electronics: power tools, lawn mowers, snow blowers, household appliances;
• Medical equipment: electrosurgical instruments, portable medical equipment;
• Industrial applications: elevators, fire alarm equipment.
"Littelfuse engineers have engineered the unique capabilities of dual-circuit technology tap switches into extremely small form factors, enabling electronics designers to deliver safer products to their end customers." "Thanks to the patented design of the KSC DCT, anyone can now accurately monitor the actual condition of the electro-mechanical surface mount technology tap switch, even when the switch is not in use," said Jeremy Hebras, vice president of engineering Digital and Technology development at Littelfuse's electronics Business unit. This helps distinguish between silent signals and equipment failures."
With the increasing security requirements of end users, active fault verification is required. The KSC DCT touch switch adds a single-pole double-throw (SPDT) function that enables the system to proactively verify faults such as unexpected door openings.
