RENESAS today announced the launch of two semiconductor solutions for the fast-growing IO-Link market: the CCE4511 four-channel IO-Link master IC and the ZSSC3286 - IO-Link ready dual-channel resistive sensor signal conditioning IC.

IO-Link is a digital communication protocol widely used in the field of industrial automation. CCE4511 Four-channel IO-Link master station IC

The new CCE4511 from RENESAS is the industry's first four-channel master IC for the IO-Link protocol, with a drive current of 500mA per channel, offering many advantages over two-channel master devices. It saves energy, reduces PCB size, and requires fewer external components than competing products.


The CCE4511 provides a high voltage interface as well as overvoltage detection and overcurrent protection. To improve application performance, its integrated IO-Link frame processor automates most of the underlying communication tasks, significantly reducing the load on microcontrollers (MCUS), allowing more performance for other tasks, and/or allowing designers to use lower-cost MCUS. CCE4511 operating temperature up to 125ºC, suitable for harsh industrial environments; It also supports the detection of ready pulses from IO-Link devices, which is necessary to meet the newly defined IO-Link security system extension.


ZSSC3286 IO-Link ready dual-channel resistive sensor Signal regulator IC

The ZSSC3286 is a dual-channel sensor signal conditioning IC (SSC) for high-precision amplification, digitization, and sensor-specific correction of sensor signals. It supports IO-Link connectivity and integrates the IO-Link protocol stack that runs the IO-Link smart sensor profile for digital measurement and switching sensors. The product is suitable for bridge and half-bridge sensors and external voltage source components. Digital compensation of sensor offset, sensitivity, temperature drift and nonlinearity is realized through a mathematical kernel based on 32-bit Arm. The kernel runs a correction algorithm and stores the calibration coefficients in non-volatile, reprogrammable memory. The programmable integrated sensor front end optimizes the use of different sensors for various application scenarios.


The ZSSC3286 is the first sensor signal conditioner to integrate the IO-Link compatible protocol stack. Traditionally, additional microcontrollers have been required to run the protocol stack. The ZSSC3286 eliminates the MCU, saving onboard space and cost. In addition, it has two parallel ADCs with up to 24-bit resolution, a measurement scheduler to optimize performance, and advanced system diagnostics.
