October 27, today, Huawei Managing Director, Director of ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Towards Ultra-broadband 5.5G" at the Global Ultra-broadband Summit. He said that ultra-broadband 5.5G is the path to a smart world, and proposed four key tasks to accelerate industry evolution to ultra-broadband 5.5G, which will see huge changes in the home, campus and industrial Internet in 2030.

He said that Smart World 2030 will see the number of home broadband moving from gigabit to 10 gigabit, the number of Wi-Fi access terminals in the home increasing from the current 5-20 to 150-200 per home, and the extension of fibre to the room becoming a necessity; medium and large campuses moving towards N*10Gbps Wi-Fi network access, and the need for intelligent operation and management capabilities; and small and micro enterprises requiring large bandwidth, Wi-Fi experience and one-stop internal network services. Small and medium-sized campuses are moving towards N*10Gbps Wi-Fi network access with intelligent operation and management capabilities; small and medium-sized enterprises need a one-stop shop for internal networks with large bandwidth and good Wi-Fi experience; industrial Internet bandwidth requirements exceed 10Gbps, with latency requirements down to less than 1 millisecond, while enterprises will adopt a multi-cloud strategy, requiring dynamic and flexible network routing. At the same time, network capacity, green and automation are also key development factors, with network capacity, energy efficiency and operations and maintenance efficiency all set to increase by a factor of 10.

"Ultra-broadband 5.5G is the path to a smart world and needs to be driven by standards organisations, government regulators, operators, equipment vendors and other industry partners.
