Renesas Introduces Power Efficient 4th Generation R-Car Automotive SoCs - R-Car V4M Series
Renesas Electronics today announced the expansion of its popular R-Car product family with the R-Car V4M series, a system-on-chip (SoC) for entry-level advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Renesas Electronics today announced the expansion of its popular R-Car product family with the R-Car V4M series, a system-on-chip (SoC) for entry-level advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The new R-Car V4M series and the expanded R-Car V4H series offer powerful AI processing and fast CPU performance with a good balance of performance and power consumption. Their excellent TOPS/Watt performance and optimised power-saving features make them ideal for entry-level, cost-sensitive ADAS applications such as front-facing smart camera systems, surround view systems, automatic parking and driver monitoring systems.
The R-Car V4M and R-Car V4H families feature up to four Arm® Cortex®-A76 cores, delivering 32K to 81K DMIPS of application processing performance. and three Arm Cortex-R52 lock-step cores for up to 25K DMIPS of real-time operating performance. Thanks to a highly integrated design and advanced manufacturing process technology, these products deliver 9 to 34 TOPS of arithmetic power with extremely low power consumption and performance of 9 TOPS/watt. In a typical full-featured smart camera with an 8-megapixel sensor, the R-Car V4M consumes about 5 watts of power, which is 50 per cent lower compared to similar products on the market.
To date, Renesas has shipped more than 450 million automotive-grade R-Car products, including devices that meet the ASIL D quality rating, which is the highest level in the automotive safety integrity hierarchy and represents a minimisation of risk.
