Chongqing's first unmanned dirigible with 5G base station successfully test-flies
According to a recent release by China Mobile Chongqing, the first unmanned airship with a 5G base station in Chongqing recently flew successfully.
October 10 - According to a recent release by China Mobile Chongqing, the first unmanned airship carrying a 5G base station in Chongqing recently flew successfully. The air-to-ground integrated 5G emergency response system based on the airship floatplane will be used for communication, rescue, environmental monitoring and other emergency response in the future. Chongqing Mobile introduced the system, which was jointly developed by them and Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Chongqing Proximity Space Innovation R&D Centre.
The airship is designed to have a maximum lift height of 300 metres and is filled with inert gas helium, making it safe and non-polluting, and can stay in the air for more than seven days, much longer than the average drones which stay in the air for about three hours.
The system is not only suitable for emergency rescue, but can also be used to support temporary communication at remote construction sites, large outdoor monitoring, forest protection, intelligent agriculture, emergency traffic and many other scenarios.
Recently, the project "5G-based air-ground integrated communication emergency protection and monitoring system", jointly declared by Shanghai Jiaotong University Chongqing Proximity Space Innovation R&D Centre and China Mobile Communications Group Chongqing Co Ltd, won the 5th "Blossom Cup" 5G Application Competition The second prize of the industry virtual private network competition.
It is reported that the 5G-based air-ground integrated communication emergency security and monitoring system uses a rapidly deployable tethered float independently developed by Shanghai Jiaotong University Chongqing Proximity Space Innovation and Research Centre as an aerial platform, equipped with China Mobile's 5G communication equipment and multispectral high-definition camera and air indicator monitoring equipment independently developed by Shanghai Jiaotong University Chongqing Proximity Space Innovation and Research Centre, to achieve air-to-ground large-area 5G signal coverage, ground high-definition camera and air indicator monitoring equipment. The system will provide 5G signal coverage over a large air-to-ground area, acquire high-definition images on the ground and transmit back the air quality of the monitoring area in real time. The system has the advantages of long airtime, low energy consumption, high observation accuracy, strong communication security and high environmental adaptability, and can be widely used in emergency communications, large area crowd behaviour observation, forest fire monitoring and other fields.
