Description:

The MCP3461R is a low-noise, 16-bit sigm-δ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with two single-ended or one differential input channel and programmable data rates up to 153.6 kSPS. It offers integrated features such as internal VREFs, oscillators, temperature sensors and burn-out sensor detection to reduce the number of system components and the total cost of the solution.

The MCP3461R ADC is fully configurable with an over-sampling rate (OSR) ranging from 32 to 98304 and a gain range of 0.33x to 64x. It includes an internal sequencer (scan mode) with multiple monitoring channels and a 24-bit timer capable of automatically creating a sequence of conversion loops without the need for MCU communication. Advanced security features such as CRC and register map locks guarantee configuration lock and integrity and communication data integrity in a secure environment.

The device also has a 20 MHz SPI-compatible serial interface. The 8-bit command greatly simplifies communication and includes a variety of continuous read/write modes and 24/32-bit multiple data formats that can be accessed via direct memory access (DMA) of an 8-bit, 16-bit or 32-bit MCU.
