TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) has announced a further expansion of its ACT1210E series (3.2 x 2.5 x 2.5 mm - L x W x H) common mode filter product lineup for automotive Ethernet communications 10BASE-T1S. The new common-mode filter will begin mass production in July 2024.

The new ACT1210E-131-2P-TL00 filter reduces the interline capacitance by approximately 30% compared to conventional products. In the specification, the product is the first in the industry to reach the level of Class IV with the lowest parasitic capacitance between lines. The common mode inductance at 100 kHz is 130 µH and the current rating is up to 70 mA.


In addition to the common-mode filter, the 10BASE-T1S communication circuit also includes anti-physical layer device (PHY) and anti-static (ESD) components, as well as other electronic components, each of which has its own capacitance. As the total capacitance increases, the turbulence of the signal waveform increases, which leads to the interruption of normal communication. To solve this problem, engineers need to select components suitable for low capacitance.


To achieve high S-parameters, the new product uses TDK's proprietary design structure and optimized materials to reduce the impact of capacitance-induced signal distortion and effectively suppress common-mode noise. Moreover, TDK's innovative high-precision automatic winding technology ensures consistent quality and high reliability.


TDK offers a wide range of common mode filters for automotive applications, including filters that meet the requirements of the current mainstream CAN, CAN FD, and Flex-Ray protocols, as well as Ethernet protocols. For example, 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 protocols with communication rates of 100 megabits per second and 1000 megabits per second, respectively. In the future, TDK will continue to provide a full range of products and services for common mode filters for automotive communication, and continue to meet customer needs.
