[August 10] Roborock launched the latest intelligent sweeping and mopping all-in-one robot - V20 Black Warrior, which is equipped with Infineon's new optical module inside. Compared to the traditional sweeping and mopping robot's body height of 100MM, the overall design of V20 body is only 82MM, which can pass through lower and narrower spaces. Meanwhile, V20 has strong reliability and will become a powerful assistant for smart home life.

In today's fast-paced living and working environment, people are relying more and more on smart home tools to alleviate heavy housework. Intelligent sweeping robots, as the best of the housework assistants, need to solve many technical difficulties in order to better serve the family.

At present, although the laser distance measuring system (LDS) widely used in the industry is highly efficient, the high-speed movement of the mechanical rotating parts is prone to malfunction, and the combined size of the LDS module and obstacle avoidance module is too large and occupies limited space, making the end product bulky and unable to clean in place, which is a common technological weakness of sweeping robots. In addition, the handling of multi-path interference (MPI), stray light and dynamic range are also common challenges in the industry.

Roborock has teamed up with Infineon, PMD and Ophthalmics to develop a solution that uses Infineon's hToF to replace the traditional LDS and obstacle avoidance modules, upgrading the solution to overcome these technical pains and improve the flexibility and reliability of sweeping robots.

Infineon's hToF sensors, combined with PMD's processing technology, provide a powerful solution for consumer robots, supporting SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Map Building), obstacle avoidance and cliff detection. The open-source SLAM algorithm based on hToF depth data generates high-precision maps, ensuring accurate and reliable navigation. In addition, this solution is computationally efficient and streamlined, requiring only an A55 single-core processor for depth processing and SLAM computation tasks.
