Overview:

Texas Instruments TPS61288 Synchronous Boost Converter is a high power density, fully integrated synchronous boost converter. It is equipped with a 6.5mΩ power switch and an 8.5mΩ rectifier switch, providing high efficiency and small size solutions for portable systems. With a wide input voltage range of 2V (2.4V rise) to 18V, the TPS61288 supports applications using single or two lithium batteries. The device has a 15A switching current capability and can provide up to 18V output voltage.

The TPS61288 uses a peak current control topology with SOO modulation to adjust the output voltage. Under medium to heavy load conditions, the device operates in pulse width modulation (PWM) mode. Under light load and low duty cycle conditions, it automatically operates in pulse frequency modulation (PFM) mode. SOO modulation enables precise regulation over a wide load /VIN range while maintaining high efficiency and low output ripple. The switching frequency in PWM mode is 500kHz. The TPS61288 provides 19V output overvoltage protection, cycle by cycle overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown protection.
