The Microchip Switchtec™ PFX Gen 4 fan-out PCIe® switch supports up to 100 channels, 52 ports, 26 virtual switch partitions, and 48 non-transparent Bridges (NTBS). In addition, the PFX switch offers hot swap and unplanned swap controllers for each port, advanced error control, full diagnostic and debugging capabilities, a variety of I/O interfaces, and an integrated MIPS processor. Full diagnostics and debugging include PCIe generators and analyzers, per-port performance and error counters, multiple loopback modes, and real-time eye map capture. PFX Gen 4 Fan out switches include the PM40100, PM40084, PM40068, PM40052, PM40036 and PM40028 series.


The PM40028B1-F3EI is a highly reliable, high-performance Switchtec Gen 4 PFX Fan-out PCIe switch with significant power consumption, cost, and board space, supporting 28 channels, 16 ports, and a hot-swapable controller for each port.
