News on September 13, Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Devices, a subsidiary of Toshiba’s semiconductor business, announced on September 12 that one of its MCU factories was shut down on September 11 due to a power outage during facility inspections, and it is expected to wait until September 17. In order to fully resume work (production resumes to the level before the power outage).

It is reported that the factory that was shut down due to the power outage this time is the Iwate Works of Toshiba Group, which mainly produces general-purpose MCUs used in vehicle-mounted equipment and consumer products. The company claims that the power outage did not cause damage to the production equipment at the Iwate Works. Japanese media pointed out that this power outage will not only scrap some semi-finished products that are being produced on the production line, but it will still take time to resume work, so it is estimated that shipments to customers will be affected.
