TDK Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange Code: 6762) has recently launched the B41699 and B41799 series of ultra-compact aluminum electrolytic capacitors. The new series of components are available in axial and solder star designs, with a maximum operating temperature of +140 ° C. Specifically designed to meet the demanding automotive applications, they not only significantly save space but also feature high capacitance and large ripple current capabilities. Its unique advantages can help designers optimize the configuration of power system modules such as electric power steering (EPS), fan control and transmission systems, and reduce the number of capacitors required.
The rated voltages of the new series of capacitors are 25 V and 35 V respectively, covering A capacitance range of 1800 µF to 13,000 µ F. They can achieve a large ripple current capability of 34.6 A (IAC,max) at a housing temperature of +125 °C and a frequency of 10 kHz, and have a low equivalent series resistance (ESR). In addition, the component has a service life of over 4000 hours under rated voltage, ripple current and operating conditions of +125 °C, and models with vibration stability up to 60 g are available as an option. The outstanding reliability makes the new component highly suitable for the new generation of xEV platforms (12 V electrical systems), meeting their comprehensive design requirements for thermal stability, resistance to mechanical vibration and compact integration.
Both the B41699 series (axial type) and the B41799 series (welded star type) offer flexible installation options and are suitable for various structural configurations such as horizontal, vertical and busbar. The product dimensions range from 16 x 25mm to 21 x 49mm (diameter x height), depending on the model.
The new component adopts the SIKOREL structure design, can be stored for up to 15 years at a temperature of ≤+35 °C, and complies with RoHS and AEC-Q200 standards. These capacitors achieve large capacitance capacity in a smaller package, which can help engineers simplify product design while ensuring product performance.
