Qualcomm announced the launch of the second generation of its Snapdragon8 mobile platform. The platform will bring a better experience with pioneering AI intelligent design for the entire platform and improvements in six technology areas: AI, imaging, audio, gaming, connectivity, and security.

The second generation Snapdragon8 has improved CPU performance by up to 35% and GPU performance by 25%. The second-generation Snapdragon8CPU features a new 1+4+3 octa-core architecture, including a super-core Kryo Prime core (based on Cortex-X3) running at 3.2GHz to deliver high single-threaded performance. There are also four performance cores running at 2.8GHz to better handle multithreaded workloads. Finally, there are three efficiency cores with a frequency of 2.0GHz.

In terms of energy efficiency, the second-generation Snapdragon8 has a 40% increase in CPU energy efficiency and a 45% reduction in Adreno GPU power consumption compared to the previous generation platform.
