On 12 August, Littelfuse announced the launch of two new TMR-based magnetic angle sensors, the LF53466 and LF53464, designed to provide high-precision 0-360° angle measurement in harsh environments while minimising thermal drift.

Both sensors utilise tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) technology and feature a dual push-pull Wheatstone bridge configuration, with each sensor equipped with four high-sensitivity sensing elements for precise angle detection along the X and Y axes. These sensors offer exceptional thermal stability, wide power supply voltage compatibility, and higher measurement accuracy, making them an ideal alternative to Hall-effect devices.

The LF53466 is housed in a standard TSSOP8 package and provides precise angle sensing within a magnetic field range of 200–800 Gs, with an error of less than 0.8°. It is well-suited for industrial and automotive applications that benefit from robust mechanical solder joints and easy inspection features, such as steering wheel angle sensors, pedal position sensors, and non-contact potentiometers.

The LF53464 features a compact LGA8L package, offering higher accuracy (angle error below 0.6°) while supporting a larger air gap and compatibility with smaller, lower-cost magnets. It is ideal for space-constrained applications such as rotary encoders, knobs, and valve position sensing, as well as consumer devices including power tools and home appliances.
