As a leading provider of modular signal switches and simulation solutions for electronic testing and verification, Pickering Interfaces has announced the launch of a new series of high-voltage programmable resistor modules, featuring compact single-slot PXI and PXIe forms. The models are 40-230 (PXI) and 42-230 (PXIe), which can easily handle voltage application requirements up to 1.2kV.
As the latest expansion product of the Pickering programmable resistor module family, this series offers up to 70 standard configurations, including 4 single-channel versions, covering a wide range of resistors and resolution options Provide real resistance load and fault state simulation capabilities for high-voltage equipment under test (DUT) in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and energy.
The 40/42-230 high-voltage programmable resistor module plays a crucial role in simulating the real load and safety tests of high-voltage systems, and is suitable for the verification of high-voltage DUTs in electric vehicle (EV) power inverters, battery management systems (BMS), and some aerospace components. Engineers can use this module to conduct voltage isolation tests to ensure the safety of high-voltage systems and compliance with international safety standards such as ISO 6469 and IEC 60664.
In addition, this module can simulate the signals of sensors such as Thermistors and thermal resistors (RTDs) under high-voltage conditions, enabling safety testing without the need for real sensor hardware. When conducting HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulation tests on ECUs (Electronic Control Units), each channel can be set to a short-circuit or open-circuit state to verify the controller's response in case of sensor or connection anomalies, thereby enhancing test coverage.
Stephen Jenkins, the simulation product manager of Pickering, said:
Based on our continuous investment in the field of sensor and battery simulation, this new product is one of the few PXI/PXIe modules that can support up to 1.2kV voltage, making it highly suitable for high-voltage environments such as electric vehicles, aerospace, and power electronics test platforms. With the rapid popularization of high-voltage systems, engineers are facing a major challenge of ensuring the safe collaboration of high and low-voltage subsystems, and this module is precisely the ideal tool to solve this problem.
This module can provide up to 4 channels in a single slot, featuring flexible multi-channel configuration, a wide resistance range from 1Ω to 76.8MΩ, and a resolution of up to 0.125Ω. The module is equipped with built-in hardware interlocking and self-diagnostic functions, further ensuring the safety of the test. Its main application scenarios include:
High-voltage testing environments for automotive, electric vehicle and aerospace systems;
Test applications that require rapid reconfiguration of resistance values;
Systems with limited PXI slots and requiring the use of multi-channel modules;
A HIL simulation platform that requires fault insertion functionality.
40/42-230 offers 70 standard configurations, including:
Narrow resistance range version (2-channel or 4-channel)
Medium resistance range version (1-channel or 2-channel)
Wide resistance range version (1 channel)
The software control is simple and convenient. Users only need to call the required resistance value, and the module will automatically set the closest resistance value and can return the actual set value. To ensure long-term accuracy, users can connect the module to a digital multimeter (DMM) via the optional calibration cable, simplifying the regular calibration process of the resistance channel.
Unlike traditional solutions that rely solely on software protection, the 40/42-230 series modules are equipped with a hardware interlock function. When the interlock is triggered, all relays will automatically return to the default power-off state (provided that the switch function is intact) and send an error notification through the software interface. This interlocking function can be cascaded to other interlocking modules to achieve one-click linkage to close multiple cards.
The driver supports Windows, Linux and real-time operating systems, surpassing most competing products in the market. All standard products of Pickering Interfaces are covered by a three-year warranty and long-term product support. For more information, please visit: www.pickeringtest.com
