TDK Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange Code: 6762) has launched the brand-new SmartMotion® ICM-536xx series of high-performance six-axis IMUs and is now offering them to specific customers. The new series of components aims to promote the application of OIS functionality in consumer devices such as smartphones, tablets and cameras, and help achieve clear and stable image and video shooting. InvenSense, a company under the TDK Group, has been dedicated to developing high-end OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) /EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) customized sensor solutions for original equipment manufacturers (Oems) of smartphones and cameras for 15 years, with rich experience and strong technical capabilities. The newly launched ICM-536xx series products of the company are expected to promote and apply the high-end OIS/EIS functions to more mobile devices.

OIS technology can effectively compensate for the shooting interference caused by hand shake and movement, ensuring that clearer photos and smoother videos can be taken even in low-light conditions and during zoom and long exposure photography. With the continuous growth of consumers' demand for high-quality mobile images, OIS has gradually become one of the essential functions of mid-to-high-end smartphones. The brand-new ICM-536xx series products support an output data rate (ODR) of up to 6.4kHz and a data resolution of up to 20 bits, effectively optimizing photo quality and enabling manufacturers to integrate advanced OIS functions into a wider range of devices, meeting the increasingly diverse needs of makers and everyday users.


For a long time, due to the cost, size and power consumption limitations of the required sensor technology, OIS has been regarded as a high-end feature of high-end models. Pankaj Aggarwal, vice President and general manager of the Consumer and Industrial Motion Sensing Division of InvenSense, TDK Group, said, "TDK's new ICM-536xx series effectively addresses these challenges, offering a mainstream solution with thinner packaging, lower power consumption and guaranteed performance."
