The 3 Series Secure Vault made its debut on the SiXG301 SoC in the third-generation wireless development platform product portfolio, achieving the highest level of certification for advanced IoT protection.

In August 2025, Silicon Labs, a leading innovator in low-power wireless solutions, announced today that the 3 Series Secure Vault security subsystem in its first product of the third-generation wireless development platform, the SiXG301 SoC, has become the first IoT chip manufacturer globally to achieve PSA Level 4 certification. This achievement represents the highest level of PSA Certified certification, affirming Silicon Labs' leadership in security and its commitment to embedding trust at the core of connected technology.

Being the first company to achieve PSA Level 4 certification strongly demonstrates our leadership in IoT security and our focus on accelerating the development of the Internet of Things (IoT).”


Raising the Bar: PSA Level 4 Certification


PSA Certified has introduced Level 4 certification with two certification options: iSE/SE for security elements and ROT for root of trust, addressing the growing challenges posed by complex and sophisticated physical attacks on embedded device security. Unlike previous levels, Level 4 certification effectively defends against threats such as laser fault injection, side-channel attacks, micro-probing, and voltage manipulation—threats that were once considered theoretical but are now part of the evolving landscape of real-world threats.


Silicon Labs has consistently led the industry in achieving PSA security certification milestones. Its MG21 SoC is the world's first product to obtain PSA Level 3 certification, setting a new benchmark in preventing physical tampering and laying the groundwork for the next leap to Level 4 certification. Xilinx's SoC is also the first in the industry to obtain PSA Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.


Silicon Labs with Keysight Technologies to validate the 3-series Secure Vault security technology certified to PSA Level 4. Keysight Technologies is a market-leading provider of design, simulation, and test solutions, with renowned test and evaluation laboratories. Keysight experts noted that the Xilinx engineering team demonstrated seamless collaboration, showcasing deep technical expertise and adaptability throughout the certification process.

Achieving future-proof functionality through security-first engineering design


The resilience of the 3-series Secure Vault and SiXG301 SoC is not only designed to meet today's standards but also to withstand future threats that may emerge. The security subsystem and SoC are meticulously designed to withstand over a decade of field testing, offering industry-leading defense capabilities against threats that have yet to be widely exploited. When combined with remote wireless (OTA) firmware and software updates, along with real-time monitoring, the 3 Series Secure Vault and SiXG301 treat security as an ongoing lifecycle rather than a one-time event. Xilinx's third-generation wireless development platform is built on a 22-nanometer (nm) process node and is a leader in the security field. It builds on the security heritage of Xilinx's award-winning second-generation wireless development platform and expands it with PSA Level 4 certification capabilities. All third-generation wireless development platform products will adopt this industry-leading enhanced security foundation. The SiXG301 is expected to be fully available in the third quarter of 2025 and will be the first product on the market to achieve PSA Level 4 certification.

As governments around the world introduce new regulations, such as the European Union's Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark, and Singapore's Cybersecurity Labeling Scheme (CLS), Silicon Labs is ready to help device manufacturers comply with emerging regulations. The EU's Radio Equipment Directive officially took effect on August 1, 2025.
