PCIe 6.0 SSDs like the Micron 9650 SSD enable high-speed data access, significantly enhancing the computational performance and efficiency of AI inference and training tasks.’

Micron 6600 ION SSD: Ultra-high density and exceptional space efficiency for AI data lakes

The Micron 6600 ION SSD offers breakthrough scalability with a maximum capacity of 245TB per drive, enabling hyperscale deployments and enterprise-class data centres to consolidate server infrastructure, build large AI data lakes, while reducing storage space, energy consumption, and carbon emissions. Compared to competitors, this product achieves a 67% increase in storage density, with single-rack storage capacity exceeding 88PB, significantly reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).

The industry-leading 122TB E3.S SSD is as small as a deck of cards yet delivers 2.4PB of PCIe 5.0 flash storage capacity in a 1U server.

The 122TB 6600 ION consumes just 1 watt per 4.9TB, achieving a 37% improvement in energy efficiency compared to three 36TB HDDs providing the same capacity, while occupying less than a quarter of the space.

When deployed at a scale of 2EB of storage, the 6600 ION SSD can save up to 3.4 MWh of energy consumption daily compared to an HDD solution, equivalent to the average daily electricity consumption of 124 American households.

The 6600 ION SSD supports advanced enterprise-level security features, offering exceptional data protection capabilities.

Michael McNerney, Vice President of Marketing and Cybersecurity at Supermicro, stated: Supermicro offers the industry's broadest portfolio of Petascale storage-optimised servers, supporting up to 36 E3.S SSDs. When combined with Micron's 6600 ION SSD, this enables up to 4.42PB of capacity in a 2U server, delivering higher density and energy efficiency for large-scale AI workloads. Through our collaboration with Micron, we provide customers with highly integrated, energy-efficient solutions that optimise total cost of ownership (TCO)."

WEKA Chief Product Officer Ajay Singh commented: "The Micron 6600 ION SSD represents a major breakthrough in AI infrastructure, with its exceptional capacity and performance enabling WEKA customers to manage and process larger datasets with fewer infrastructure investments and lower energy consumption. The Micron 9650 PCIe 6.0 SSD is equally exciting, seamlessly integrating with our Augmented Memory Grid™ technology to accelerate GPU memory expansion via ultra-high-speed NVMe, reduce first token generation time, enhance token throughput, and help avoid memory wall issues in high-throughput inference environments."

Micron 7600 SSD: Leading performance for AI inference and mixed workloads

The 7600 PCIe 5.0 SSD delivers industry-leading performance, low latency, and highly reliable service quality (QoS), providing stable and reliable ultra-fast response for high-demand data centre workloads such as AI data conversion, model training, and inference. The Micron 7600 SSD achieves industry-leading sub-millisecond latency under highly complex RocksDB workloads, making it an ideal choice for workloads with extremely stringent response time requirements. The Micron 7600 SSD strikes an excellent balance between cost-effectiveness, performance, and predictable latency, making it widely applicable to most data centre workloads, including AI.
