The company today announced the launch of the CPC2501M, a powerful, self-driven, normally closed solid-state relay optimised for ring bypass in video doorbell systems.

The CPC2501M is designed to replace discrete relay circuits and is the first application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) in Littelfuse's product portfolio specifically developed for this function. The product integrates self-protection, fault timing, and solid-state switching functionality into a compact 6×6 mm QFN package, simplifying the integration process for video doorbells while significantly enhancing system reliability and safety.


Hugo Guzman, Product Marketing Manager for Littelfuse's Integrated Circuits Division, stated, ‘The CPC2501M doorbell bypass relay enables video doorbell manufacturers to make their products compatible with existing residential wiring systems. End users can replace doorbell buttons with new video doorbell units using existing doorbell boxes without requiring professional installation or additional wiring.’


Key Features and Benefits

Integrated self-driven logic operates without the need for an external microcontroller or software control;

Built-in fault protection timer (~17 seconds) automatically resets in case of prolonged button press or chime fault;

High-performance switch withstands 60 VP bidirectional voltage and 1.84 ARMS continuous load current;

Peak current capability of 5 A to handle startup and surge conditions;  

Thermally optimised 6×6 mm QFN-16 package saves PCB space for compact module designs;  

Can be installed behind a standard 8-24 VAC doorbell transformer.

As the popularity of video doorbells continues to grow, the challenge of powering these devices using traditional residential wiring and mechanical doorbells becomes increasingly difficult. The CPC2501M addresses this issue by creating a power bypass path when the doorbell is inactive and immediately closing this path when the doorbell is active, ensuring continuous power supply to the camera unit while fully preserving doorbell functionality without requiring complex modifications.
