STMicroelectronics has released the STGWA30IH160DF2 IGBT. This device features a rated breakdown voltage of 1600 V, excellent thermal performance, and efficient operation with a soft-switching topology. It is particularly suitable for high-power home appliance applications that require parallel use, including induction cookers, microwave ovens, rice cookers, and other appliances.

This device features a maximum junction temperature of 175℃ and an excellent thermal resistance coefficient, ensuring efficient heat dissipation performance at a rated current of 30A and maintaining long-term stable operation in harsh working environments.


As part of the STPOWER product portfolio, this is the first 1600V voltage level IGBT from STMicroelectronics' second-generation IH series. It adopts advanced trench gate field cut-off (TGFS) technology, featuring both high breakdown voltage and low saturation voltage drop (typically 1.77V at rated current), significantly reducing conduction losses. TGFS technology can also effectively suppress the tail current during turn-off and reduce energy loss during turn-off. The matching anti-parallel diode features low voltage drop and soft recovery characteristics, which work in synergy with the switching performance of the main transistor to enhance the overall energy efficiency of the resonant and soft-switching topology.


The STGWA30IH160DF2 is suitable for the design of quasi-resonant single-tube converters with a wide frequency range from 16kHz to 60kHz. Its high withstand voltage and excellent thermal efficiency characteristics can effectively resist voltage surge impacts, reduce the demand for peripheral protection components, and significantly lower the bill of materials (BOM) cost.


Household appliances designed based on this device can not only meet the cost requirements of price-sensitive markets but also achieve excellent energy efficiency ratings with their high energy efficiency performance.


This device also features a positive temperature coefficient characteristic. Combined with strict parameter consistency control, it supports multi-tube parallel connection to achieve current sharing design in high-power applications.
