Details of LT3085IMS8E

The LT3085IMS8E is a 500mA low-dropout linear regulator that can increase output current or dissipate heat on surface mount circuit boards by parallel connection. This new type of voltage regulator is specifically designed to be used as a precise current source and voltage follower, and can be applied in many scenarios that require high current, zero adjustability, and no heat sink. In addition, the LT3085IMS8E also leads out the collector of the transfer transistor to achieve low-dropout (as low as 275mV) operation when used with a second power supply.


One of the important features of the LT3085IMS8E is its ability to provide a wide output voltage range. By using a reference current flowing through a single resistor, the output voltage can be set at any level between 0V and 36V. When a 2.2μF capacitor is used at the output end, the LT3085IMS8E can achieve stability. Moreover, this IC employs small ceramic capacitors, unlike the additional ESR commonly found in other regulators.


The internal protection circuit includes current limiting and thermal limiting. The LT3085IMS8E voltage regulator adopts an 8-pin MSOP package (this package features an exposed pad for improving thermal characteristics).
