AMD MI308 AI Acceleration Card to Resume Shipments Soon, License Application Enters Review Process

On 15 July, it was reported that the US ban on AI chip exports to mainland China had attracted attention, including NVIDIA's H20 and AMD's MI308. With Huang Renxun's return visit to China, the H20 was also announced to resume supply. Recently, EEWorld learned that AMD's MI308 will also resume supply soon.
AMD officially stated: ‘We have recently received notification from the Trump administration that applications for export licenses for MI308 products to China will be advanced to the review process. We plan to resume shipments once the licenses are approved.’
In April this year, both the AMD MI308 and NVIDIA H20 were banned by the U.S. government from being exported to the Chinese market, with estimated quarterly revenue losses of approximately $5.5 billion and $800 million for the two companies, respectively.
Now, with Huang Renxun announcing the resumption of H20 sales in China, the simultaneous resumption of AMD MI308 sales is also logical.
Just recently, AMD also launched the next-generation Instinct MI350 series, including the MI350X and MI355X, featuring a 3nm process, 18.5 billion transistors, and 288GB of HBM3 high-bandwidth memory with a bandwidth of 8TB/s. The air-cooled module has a maximum power consumption of 1000W, water-cooled modules can reach 1400W, marking another significant leap in performance and technical capabilities.
