1. Product Description 

The AD8422BRMZ is a high-performance, low-power, rail-to-rail output precision instrumentation amplifier from Analog Devices Inc. (ADI). Designed to provide precise signal amplification in low-voltage, low-power demanding applications, the AD8422BRMZ uses a classic triple-op amp instrumentation amplifier architecture combined with a laser wafer-tuned thin-film resistor network to achieve excellent DC accuracy and AC performance. Its core strengths of extremely low power consumption (only 1.3 mA maximum quiescent current) and rail-to-rail output swing capability make it ideal for battery-powered portable devices, remote sensor interfaces, and space- and power-constrained systems. the AD8422BRMZ is available in an MSOP-8 package.


2. Key Features 

Ultra-low power consumption: Maximum quiescent current is only 1.3 mA (VS = ±2.5V). This gives the AD8422BRMZ an advantage in battery-powered and portable applications.

Rail-to-rail outputs: The output stage is designed so that the output voltage can be very close to the positive and negative supply rails (typically within 50 mV of the rail), maximising dynamic range, especially at low supply voltages. This is a significant advantage of the AD8422BRMZ.

High accuracy: 

Low offset voltage: ±150 μV max (G=1), ±1 mV max (G≥10).

Low offset voltage drift: ±0.5 μV/°C typical (G≥100).

Low input bias current: 1.5 nA typical. 

High common mode rejection ratio (CMRR): 120 dB minimum (G=10, DC), 90 dB minimum (G=1, DC). Excellent CMRR is at the heart of the AD8422BRMZ's ability as an instrumentation amplifier to effectively suppress common mode noise.

High power supply rejection ratio (PSRR): 120 dB minimum (G≥10, DC).

Wide gain range: Set gain from 1 to 1000 (G = 1 + 49.4 kΩ / RG) with a single external resistor. Users have the flexibility to configure the AD8422BRMZ to meet their application needs.

Wide supply voltage range: ±2.3 V to ±18 V, or +4.6 V to +36 V. This flexibility allows the AD8422BRMZ to operate in a wide range of system supply configurations.

Low Noise: Typical input voltage noise density is 7 nV/√Hz @ 1 kHz (G=100). Although not the lowest-noise instrumentation amplifier, it performs well at its power consumption level.

High bandwidth: Gain bandwidth product (GBWP) of 1.2 MHz typical (G=1) The AD8422BRMZ can handle signals over a range of frequencies.

Fast build-up time: 20 μs typical build-up time to 0.01% accuracy (G=100).

MSOP-8 package: The small package size saves PCB space and is ideal for compact designs, and the package form factor is an important identifier of the AD8422BRMZ.
