On 14 June, leaked information revealed that Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra Edition processor will see a single-core performance boost of nearly 30%, with Geekbench 6 scores exceeding 4000.

The blogger revealed that the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultra Edition processor (codenamed SM8850) will adopt the second-generation self-developed Oryon CPU architecture, with a Geekbench 6 single-core theoretical score exceeding 4,000 points, a multi-core score exceeding 11,000 points, and GMEM (graphics memory) reaching 16MB.


For comparison, the current Snapdragon 8 Ultra Edition scores over 3,100 in Geekbench 6 single-core tests and over 9,800 in multi-core tests. Based on the leaked information, the next-generation processor will see a 29% increase in single-core performance and a 12.2% increase in multi-core performance. Compared to the Apple A18 Pro's single-core score of 3,605 and multi-core score of 9,376, it is 11% and 17.3% higher, respectively.


According to reports, the GMEM mentioned in the leaks refers to graphics memory, which features high bandwidth and low latency (AnandTech measured the GMEM bandwidth of the Adreno X1 at up to 2.3 TB/s). During rendering, the GPU divides the frame buffer into several small rectangular regions (tiles), performs rasterisation and shading in the graphics memory, and then writes the tile results back to system memory.
