Overview
The LTC9105ATP is an IEEE 802.3af/at/bt (" PoE 2 ") Power over Ethernet (PoE) Receiving Device (PD) controller with input current, voltage and power telemetry functions. The LTC9105ATP includes an I2C interface for reading telemetry data, power allocated by the power supply equipment (PSE), and auxiliary input status, as well as writing power input priorities. The LTC9105ATP also features a configurable downstream power-on disabling function. When the power allocated by the PSE is lower than the power requested by the PD, it will issue a power shortage indicator.
The LTC9105ATP adopts an external low RDS (ON), N-channel, hot-swapable MOSFET and a 50mΩ current-sensing resistor, and supports the LT4321 ideal bridge to expand end-to-end power supply efficiency. It also includes good power output, external signature resistors, programmable classification of resistors, and PD request classes with configurable pins. The presence of an auxiliary power supply is sensed on the AUX pin and reported through the I2C interface. When the downstream current consumption drops below the internal MPS threshold, the auto-hold Power Characteristic (MPS) circuit maintains power supply to the PD interface.
Two dedicated Delta-Sigma ADCs continuously measure the input voltage and current of the PD controller. The typical conversion time is 100ms and the resolution is 14 bits. The synchronous conversion of current and voltage measurement values can achieve high-precision power calculation.
