The ADBMS6816WCSWZ has a battery measurement range of 0 V to 5 V and is suitable for most battery chemistry applications. All six battery voltage measurements can be completed within 304 μs, and a lower data acquisition rate can be selected to achieve high noise reduction and suppression.
Multiple ADBMS6816WCSWZ devices can be connected in series to simultaneously monitor longer strings of high-voltage battery packs. Each ADBMS6816WCSWZ features an isoSPI™ interface for long-distance high-speed communication free from RF interference. Multiple devices are connected in a Daisy chain form and are linked to the main processor through the topmost or bottommost devices. This Daisy chain can operate in both directions. Even if there is an error in the communication path, it can ensure the integrity of communication.
The battery stack can directly power the ADBMS6816WCSWZ or be powered by an isolated power supply. The ADBMS6816WCSWZ includes passive balancing for each battery, allowing for individual pulse width modulation (PWM) duty cycle control for each cell. Other features include an on-board 5V regulator, seven universal input/output (GPIO) lines, and A sleep mode with current consumption reduced to 5.5 μA.
