Apple is rumored to be the first customer of TSMC's 3-nanometer chips by the end of this year
Industry insiders pointed out that by the end of this year, Apple will be the first customer to use 3-nanometer wafers.
On August 17, according to the Taiwan media Business Times, there have been frequent reports that TSMC may delay the construction of 3-nanometer capacity recently, but TSMC reiterated that the 3-nanometer expansion will maintain the original plan. Industry insiders pointed out that by the end of this year, Apple will be the first customer to use 3-nanometer wafers.
According to industry sources and Apple's production chain industry sources, Apple will use TSMC's 3-nanometer wafers for the first time in the second half of the year. The first product may be the M2 Pro processor, and next year will include the new iPhone-specific A17 application processor, as well as M2 and M3 series processors. All devices will be imported into TSMC's 3-nanometer wafers.
The source also said that Intel will expand the use of 3-nanometer chips in the second half of next year to produce chips in processors, including AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Broadcom, etc., which will complete the 3-nanometer chip design in 2023 and 2024. Start mass production.
