With the rapid development of 5G technologies, including new cellular infrastructure, an increasing number of networks and data centers support the expansion of cloud computing functions, and developers are beginning to seek new ways to ensure the security of operating systems. Microchip Technology Inc. has released a new type of encryption microcontroller CEC1712H-S2-I/SX. This single-chip microcomputer supported by encryption technology is equipped with the custom Soteria-G2 firmware, which can terminate malicious programs such as Rootkit and Bootkit in the system booting through the external serial peripheral interface (SPI) flash memory.
The CEC1712H-S2-I/SX encrypted embedded controller is a low-power integrated embedded controller with strong encryption support. The CEC1712H-S2-I/SX adopts a highly configurable mixed-signal advanced I/O controller architecture, featuring a 32-bit ARM® Cortex-M4 processor core and tightly coupled memory, enabling optimal code execution and data access. An internal ROM is embedded in the design of CEC1712H-S2-I/SX for storing the power-on/startup sequence and API at runtime.
Furthermore, during the service life of the system, the CEC1712H-S2-I/SX single-chip microcomputer also provides key revocation and code rollback protection functions, enabling on-site security updates. This single-chip microcomputer complies with the provisions of the NIST800-193 guide, can prevent, detect and repair damage, and ensure the overall reliability of the system platform firmware. The secure boot function and hardware trust root are crucial for the system to prevent threats and avoid the loading of threat factors into the system. They only allow the system to boot using software trusted by the manufacturer.
The main characteristics of CEC1712H-S2-I/SX include:
Secure boot provides a hardware-based root of trust
Easy-to-use, seamless authentication and encryption functions, suitable for networked applications
A powerful hardware encryption cipher suite
4K-bit user-programmable OTP
AES128, AES192, AES256
SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512
RSA-1024 to RSA-4096
ECDSA, EC-KCDSA, Ed25519
True random number generator
Monotonic counter
