May 16 - SK Hynix's consolidated revenue for the first quarter of this year was KRW 17.6391 trillion (note: the current exchange rate is about RMB 91.035 billion), an increase of 42 per cent year-on-year, while the operating profit was KRW 7.4405 trillion (the current exchange rate is about RMB 38.4 billion), an increase of 158 per cent year-on-year.
According to SK Hynix's latest announcement on May 15, the U.S. market accounted for 72 percent of the company's total revenue in the first quarter of this year, up 22 percentage points from the 50 percent of U.S. sales in the first quarter of last year.
In addition, SK Hynix China accounted for $2,694.3 billion, or 15 per cent of total sales, in the first quarter of this year. This represents a decline of 18 percentage points from 33 per cent in the same period last year, due to a significant increase in the share of sales in the US.
SK Hynix says this is a result of the growing AI market, which is driving increased demand for memory, including products such as HBM, enterprise SSDs and DDR5 memory.
SK Hynix said it has sold out all of its 2025 HBM capacity and is supplying 12-layer stacked HBM3E products to major customers such as NVIDIA.
The company has also completed sample development and sampling of HBM4 (Gen 6), which is scheduled for volume production in the second half of this year, a first globally, and production volumes are expected to be finalised soon for next year.
