Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has launched a brand-new thick-film power resistor -ISOA200, which is certified by EC-Q200, adopts a compact thin SOT-227 package and can be installed on a heat sink. Vishay MCB ISOA200 is optional with NTC thermistor for internal temperature monitoring and pre-coated phase change thermal interface material (PC-TIM) for more efficient installation, providing high pulse processing capability and high power dissipation up to 200W at 80C bottom shell temperature.

The recently released device uses exposed aluminum substrates instead of metal sheets, which can be used as pre-charging, discharging, active discharging or buffer resistors, reducing costs in applications such as automobiles, industry and aerospace. For applications that can withstand high-energy and repetitive pulse surges, this resistor has a high-energy pulse endurance capacity of up to 140J/0.1s and has passed multi-pulse cycle tests. In addition, the device also offers customer-customized test options.


ISOA200 can optionally integrate NTC thermistors certified by EC-Q200 and undergoing temperature cycling tests inside the resistor package. This can simplify the design and save board space. Meanwhile, the optional PC-TIM can streamline the installation in the production environment. The high power and high energy dissipation capacity of the device further simplify the design, while reducing costs by decreasing the demand for power components.


The ISOA resistance ranges from 10Ω to 1MΩ with tolerances of  5% and  10%, and the TCR is ± 100 ppm/K and  150ppm/K, respectively. The maximum operating voltage of the resistor is 1500 V, the operating temperature range is -55 C to +150 C, and the dielectric strength is 4000Vrms. The device complies with the RoHS standard and adopts an inductance-free design, which can include two different resistors.


Samples of the new type of resistor are now available and mass production has been achieved. The supply cycle is 12 weeks.
