Product introduction

The ADuM1252 Bidirectional I2C isolator provides two bidirectional open leak channels for applications that require bidirectional data transmission over the same line, such as I2C. To prevent latching behavior, the first side output contains a special buffer that adjusts the logic low-level voltage to 0.64V, and the input logic low-level threshold is at least 50mV lower than the output logic low-level voltage. The second side has a traditional buffer that does not adjust the logic low-level output voltage.


The ADuM1252 has a 1.71V to 5.5V independent power supply on both the first and second sides of the isolator. The device operates at frequencies up to 2MHz. Each side provides an ultra-low standby current of 21μA, ideal for battery powered systems.


The ADuM1252 first precharges the bus pins, then monitors the bus status to find an idle bus or detect an I2C stop condition, and then connects side 1 and side 2 to provide a distract-free bus connection for the hot swappable connection on side 2.
