Infineon's OptiMOS™ 80 V, 100 V, and MOTIX™ power devices provide high-performance motor control solutions for Reflex Drive drones

[20 June 2025, Munich, Germany] Indian deep tech start-up Reflex Drive has selected Infineon Technologies AG's semiconductor power devices for its next-generation unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) motor control solutions. By integrating Infineon's OptiMOS™ 80 V and 100 V power devices, Reflex Drive's electronic speed controller (ESC) achieves better thermal management and higher efficiency, enabling high power density in a compact design. Additionally, by adopting Infineon's MOTIX™ IMD701 controller solution, which combines the XMC1404 microcontroller with the MOTIXTM 6EDL7141 three-phase gate driver IC, compact, precise, and reliable motor control is achieved. This not only enhances the drone's performance and reliability but also extends its flight time.

Reflex Drive's Field-Oriented Control (FOC) Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) enhances motor efficiency and enables precise control. Its high-performance brushless DC motor (BLDC) is specifically designed to optimise flight control and supports predictive maintenance for the drive system. The ESC weighs just 180 g and has a volume of 120 cm³, capable of sustaining 3.8 kW power output (12S/48V, 80 A continuous current). With its lightweight design, powerful output, and consistent FOC control even under harsh weather conditions, this ESC is ideal for motors with a thrust range of 15 to 20 kg, making it particularly suitable for drone applications in agricultural spraying technology, seed sowing, small-scale logistics, and cargo transportation.
