Beijing time 2025 April 7, Qualcomm officially released the fourth generation of Snapdragon 8s mobile platform, positioning the sub-flagship market user groups, through performance optimisation and feature upgrades to expand the coverage of the flagship experience. The platform focuses on strengthening performance in gaming, connectivity, AI, and imaging on the basis of improved energy efficiency, providing differentiated solutions for smartphone manufacturers.

In terms of technical specifications, Snapdragon 8s Gen4 uses TSMC's 4nm process, with a core architecture of ‘1+3+2+2’ octa-core design, including a 3.2GHz X4 mega-core, 3 3.0GHz A720 cores, 2 2.8GHz A720 cores, and 2 2.0GHz A720 cores, which is able to call the appropriate cores according to different work load to call the right core to run.

On the GPU side, the Snapdragon 8s Gen4 is powered by the Adreno 825, which is the same generation as the Adreno 830 on the Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition, and delivers a massive 49 per cent increase in GPU performance and 39 per cent improvement in energy efficiency over the previous generation.

In terms of AI, Snapdragon 8s Gen4 is equipped with a micro-architecturally-enhanced Hexagon NPU with a 44 per cent increase in AI performance, with the help of multi-language end-side generative AI and support for DeepSeek and other mainstream AI models in the industry.

On the imaging front, Snapdragon 8s Gen4 features the same 18bit triple ISP as Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition, supporting Night Vision night shots, real-time skin tone and sky correction, infinite semantic segmentation, and more.

In terms of connectivity, Snapdragon 8s Gen4 is equipped with Snapdragon X75 5G modem and RF system, which can achieve 4.2Gbps 5G peak download rate, 5.8Gbps Wi-Fi 7 peak download rate, and is equipped with Bluetooth 6.0. In addition, for the first time, Snapdragon 8s Gen4 supports Qualcomm Extended Personal LAN, which allows Bluetooth headset to be connected via WiFi when it exceeds the Bluetooth coverage range. providing users with a constantly connected music experience.
