Device description:

The DRV8317HREER three-phase Brushless DC motor driver offers three integrated MOSFET half-bridges for driving a three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor with a 5V, 9V, 12V, or 18V DC power rail or for 1 to 4 battery-operated applications. The device provides integrated three-phase current detection without the need for an external detection resistor. The DRV8317 features an integrated LDO that provides a stable 3.3V power rail capable of delivering up to 80mA for external loads such as MCUS, logic circuits, Hall sensors, and more.

The DRV8317 offers configurable 6x or 3x PWM control solutions that can be used to implement sensorless or sensorless field oriented control (FOC), sinusoidal control, or ladder control using an external microcontroller. The DRV8317 is capable of driving PWM frequencies up to 200kHz. The DRV8317 can be highly configured via SPI (DRV8317S) or pins (DRV8317H). PWM mode, flutter rate, and current detection gain are some of the configurable features.

The device integrates several protection features, including power undervoltage blocking (UVLO), overvoltage protection (OVP), and charge pump undervoltage (CPUV). The DRV8317 also features overcurrent protection (OCP), overheat warning (OTW), and Overheat Shutdown (OTS) to protect devices, motors, and systems from failure events. The nFAULT pin indicates the fault condition.
