Overview:

The AD7284WBSWZ 8-channel Li-ion battery monitoring system includes all the functions required for general purpose monitoring of stacked Li-ion batteries. The AD7284 has a multiplex unit voltage and auxiliary analog-to-digital converter (ADC) measurement channel that supports four to eight battery management units. Designers can use four auxiliary ADC input channels for temperature measurement or system diagnostics. The AD7284 provides eight differential analog input channels to accommodate large common-mode signals across the entire VDD range. In addition, the AD7284 has two on-chip 2.5V voltage references. One voltage reference is used for the primary measurement path and the other for the secondary measurement path. The integrated auxiliary measurement path verifies data on the 14-bit main ADC. Other diagnostic features include detection of open input, communications, and power related failures.


The AD7284 offers up to ±3mV cell voltage accuracy, ±16mV standard cell stack voltage (TUE) accuracy, and extremely low measurement latency across 96 cells. The AD7284 battery monitoring system meets automotive standards and is ideal for lithium-ion battery monitoring, electric and hybrid vehicles, and stationary power supply applications.
