Infineon Technologies expands its XDP digital protection product line with the XDP711-001. This is a digital hot-swappable controller with a wide input voltage range of 48 V, programmable safe Operating area (SOA) control and designed for high-power AI servers. The controller has excellent input and output voltage monitoring and reporting functions with an accuracy of ≤0.4%, as well as system input current monitoring and reporting functions with an accuracy of ≤0.75% across the ADC range, which can improve the system's fault detection and reporting accuracy.
The XDP711-001 hot-swap controller uses pulsed SOA current control technology to enable safer on-off even in systems without optimal field-effect transistors (FETs), thereby reducing system material (BOM) costs. This new addition to the XDP product family is designed to drive multiple MOSFETs in parallel, supporting the critical requirement of high power design for this AI server.
The XDP711-001 uses a three-block architecture that combines high-precision telemetry for monitoring and fault detection, digital SOA control optimized for power MOSFETs, and a high-current integrated driver capable of driving up to eight N-type power MOSFETs. Support 4 kW, 6 kW and 8 kW power transfer board (PDB) design. The new hot-swap controller operates over a wide input voltage range from 7 V to 80 V and can withstand transient voltages up to 100 V for up to 500 ms, providing input power monitoring and reporting with ≤1.15% accuracy. It has active monitoring function compatible with high-speed PMBus to improve system reliability. In severe overcurrent (SOC) situations, the programmable gate shutdown function can perform the shutdown operation quickly and reliably in as little as 1 microsecond. Additional features include IMON, PMON, and surge immunity to further improve system availability. In addition, the all-digital mode of operation significantly reduces the need for external components, enabling a compact solution that makes it cost-effective in space-constrained designs.
With external FET selection and one-time programmable (OTP) options, the XDP711-001 provides flexibility for fault and warning detection and programming of de-jitter (de-glicth) timers for a variety of usage modes. The Analog Assisted Digital Mode (AADM) is backward compatible with traditional analog hot swap controllers.

The controller is paired with Infineon's OptiMOS and OptiMOS LinearFET portfolio to provide reliable and powerful system performance.
