The NCP81599 USB Power Supply (PD) controller is a synchronous step-down boost controller optimized to convert battery or adapter voltage into the power rails required for laptop, tablet, and desktop systems, as well as many other consumer electronics devices that use the USB PD standard and C-type cables. When used with a USB PD or C− interface controller, the NCP81599 fully complies with USB power supply specifications. The NCP81599 is designed for applications that require dynamic control of the swing rate to limit the output voltage, which requires voltages above or below the input voltage. The NCP81599 drives four NMOSFET switches, enabling them to buck or boost, and supports the functions specified in the USB Power Transfer specification for all USB PD applications. The USB PD buck boost controller has a power and load range of 4.5V to 32V.
