The ACPL-C799-000E device is a 1-bit, second-order sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) modulator that converts analog input signals into high level, current-isolated high-speed data streams based on optical coupling technology. The ACPL-C799 is powered by a 5V supply and has a dynamic range of 77 dB with an appropriate digital filter. Differential inputs of ±50 mV (full scale and ±80 mV) are ideal for directly connecting shunt resistors or other low-level signal sources in applications such as motor phase current measurement.
With a minimum insulation distance of 0.5 mm (DTI), the ACPL-C799 provides reliable reinforced insulation and high operating insulation voltage for fail-safe designs. This excellent isolation performance is superior to devices that include capacitive or magnetic coupling based on DTI in the micron range. This isolated ADC, in a stretched SO-8 (SSO-8) package, offers reliability, small size, isolation and overtemperature performance that motor drive designers need to accurately measure current at a lower price than traditional current sensors.
